2007 – Press Pass Football – Bust #0007

We’re skipping the 2006 Donruss Gridiron pack that came in the Target box because it stunk, but the following pack is my own personal hell. I usually don’t buy Press Pass packs, but this was one of my Target box packs, so let’s go with it.

85 – LaRon Landry

25 – Alan Branch – Alan Branch is a beast of a man. He tore up the inside when he wanted to.

68 – LaMarr Woodley – Woodley was another great defender on the 2006 Michigan team. I threw up a little bit saying that.

91 – Reflectors Teammates (JaMarcus Russel, Dwayne Bowe) – You heard it here first — JaMarcus Russel is going to be a HUGE bust.

Verdict – Man, it’s like the meanest guy at Press Pass knew a Buckeye fan was going to get this pack and wanted to make his life miserable and make him throw the pack in the garbage. Two Michigan Wolverines (my most hated team ever) and three LSU Tigers (my current second most hated team). This pack is the Anti-Buckeye pack. I’m just saying.

2005 – Leaf Rookies & Stars – Football – Bust #0006

I’m back from the dead, and not a moment too soon. I’ve got some 2008 Baseball to bust, but I’ve got a backlog of previous busts that I never got around to posting. So these are going to be coming fast and furious!

It’s the next pack of the Target Box, this time it’s a 2005 Leaf Rookies and Stars. I don’t mind the Leaf line, but I’ve never really collected very much of it, so I’m willing to give it a try. I still don’t know if this pack was the “Bonus” advertised on the box or if someone tried to add an extra pack to their purchase, but either way, let’s rip into it:

I was trying a new lighting set up for these photos, so the colors are weird. I stopped using this set up already.

6 – Warrick Dunn – I’ve always like Dunn. He’s one of those guys that wasn’t “supposed” to make it in the NFL, yet here he is, a mainstay in the league.

64 – Plaxico Burress – Member of the “All-Name Team” and now a superbowl hero.

22 – Rudi Johnson – Not much to say for Rudi. Hugely disappointing 2007 season. Hope you didn’t pick him early in your fantasy draft.

79 – Antonio Gates – There is something about me and pulling Gates cards. Maybe it’s because we share a first name or something, but I seem to pull his cards a whole heck of a lot of time.

175 – Ryan Riddle – Don’t have much to say here.

Verdict: As far as pack names go, this one is a misnomer. This pack contained neither stars nor rookies (that I care about). Blech.

2007 – Topps Chrome Football – Bust #0003

This was a really odd pack.

The contents:

Hmmm, something doesn’t look right. This was supposed to have 4 cards. This isn’t starting off well.

TC145 – Devin Hester: They say Hester is the most electrifying special teams player around. I say it’s Cleveland’s Josh Cribbs. Let’s agree to disagree there.

TC52 – Postseason Highlights – Saints make NFC championship game for the first time in franchise history.: I hate these cards. It’s total garbage and I wish it was never born. What a waste. Hopefully the next one is better…

And that’s it. No more cards. Just those two fantastically disappointing cards. A four card pack that has two cards and a “Students: Work Hard, Get Cards” insert throwaway. What a major rip.
