Are Baseball Cards Recyclable?

Written on April 12, 2010 – 7:02 pm | by Tony |

I will get into the details in another post (but I would imagine the reason would be obvious), but I’m wondering if baseball cards are recyclable. I imagine I’m not the only person who collected during the late 80’s that has stacks and stacks of cards that have not and will not increase in value in the past twenty plus years.

So why not do the environmentally right thing (however you might define that to be) and recycle all the worthless cardboard? I mean, can cards actually be recycled?

I figured I’d find the answer online, but the internet isn’t much help. WikiAnswers says:

give them to a youngster who likes baseball cards

That’s a great idea, but it presents two problems: One, I have two young sons. The older (5 year-old) starts T-ball in a couple of weeks, but there’s no promise he or his younger brother is going to love baseball, let alone start collecting cards. And number two, if they do start collecting, I don’t think my boys are going to want my multiple 1986 Topps Pete Ladd’s.

So in all seriousness, are baseball cards recyclable?
